BEST Kids Superhero 5K & Fun Run

I have been a mentor with BEST Kids since July 2016 - it has been a life changing path and I am proud to be a part of this organization. When I first met my mentee, I knew we were going to be fast friends. She is so kind and loving – she has the best sense of humor – she is smart and driven and can truly do anything she puts her mind to. She makes me laugh every time we hang out and we are constantly going on new adventures and experiencing new things together. We help each other figure out how to handle tough situations and talk through worries and concerns about life. We talk about things and resources that she needs and wants and I am one of many people that are in her corner, advocating for her success.

I began my time with Best Kids knowing that I would put a lot of myself into the program to help support my mentee, but I had no idea how much my life would be truly enriched. She has changed my life and taught me so much about joy, compassion, understanding, acceptance, perseverance and I am so thankful to BEST Kids for connecting us and helping me find my best friend. And as my mentee often reminds me, all kids should have the opportunity to find a loving adult who can be their best friend.
