Event Information
Heights Elementary School 5k Fun Run

At Heights Elementary, our Girls Run Club meets twice a week—not just to run, but to build confidence, encourage one another, and grow as leaders. We believe in the power of movement to empower girls, and we recognize how lucky we are to have the freedom and space to do so. This fundraiser is our way of paying it forward and furthering our mission of leadership, empowerment, and encouragement through running.

Free to Run’s mission is to advance gender equity globally through running.

They do this by providing leadership and wellbeing programs, in conjunction with running experiences, for adolescent girls and young women in conflict areas like Iraq and Afghanistan. Free to Run participants are typically refugees, internally displaced people, and those who identify as ethnic minorities.

The end goal is a shift in gender equality with a specific focus on the expansion of access to public space, and leadership opportunities for young women.
